- NXT is a professional wrestling promotion and a division of the American professional wrestling company WWE. Born with the primary purpose to serve as a developmental division, NXT has come to be viewed by wrestling writers and fans as its
own distinct entity, constantly increasing in popularity and viewers. It came with no surprise that it's creator, Triple H, soon decided to turn NXT to WWE's third official brand and began looking for the best superstars from all over the globe. Not only did new up-and-comers joined the brand but veterans from the business also wanted to make a mark in NXT, with names such as Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle, Eric Young, Bobby Roode or Austin Aries soon joining the ranks and giving yet another boost to the brand. The stakes are getting higher and higher and the action never stops to amaze the fans from all over the world and this time, NXT TakeOver: Dallas will try and go even further! Let the battles begin!
Match 1 -
VS

-
NXT General Manager William Regal has been under fire for months. Despite the brand's success,
Regal's work has been everything but easy as several superstars complained about lack of opportunities or unfair treatment. Names such as
Baron Corbin and
Samoa Joe made their cases and showed their frustrations to the
"The British Brawler" but no one was as critical and bitter as one
Corey Graves.
"The Saviour of Misbehaviour" had
Regal on his radar ever since he failed to capture the NXT Championship, accusing
Regal of playing favorites and having something personal against him, a feeling that was aggravated when
Graves lost a Nº1 Contenders Match, indicating that he had
Samoa Joe beat and that he was, again, screwed by
William Regal. The situation didn't pleased
"The Destroyer" Samoa Joe, who quickly wanted to teach
Graves a lesson. The reality was different.
Graves showed his most vicious side and tried to end
Joe's career, causing a severe injury to his knee, all to send
Regal a message. Message received. What
Graves didn't count was that
Joe wouldn't let that stand and soon,
"The Samoan Submission Machine" demanded another shot at
Graves and made some serious threats to
William Regal: either give him what he wants or others will suffer. And that's exactly what happened. The NXT GM didn't want to give into
Joe's demands and the result was a brutal rampage, with several superstars and officials getting injured at the hands of
"The Destroyer". With no other option available,
Regal suspended
Joe in order to stop the madness. Enter
Graves again. Corey took the opportunities and once again voiced his opinion about the management and
Regal's work on NXT, showing
Joe's situation as an example of bad leadership and that the brand needed a new road to follow. In a shocking announcement,
Graves declared himself on the run for the position of General Manager of NXT, even mentioning how he took his case to the upper-managements and
Triple H himself, who granted him the opportunity but with a condition: it had to be earned inside the ring. A huge 6-Man Tag Team Elimination Match was set in place, with the winner becoming the new GM of NXT! Soon, TMDK and
Tye Dillinger showed their support to
William Regal while
Graves recruited the rutheless
Revival and the mysterious
Elias Samson, with promises of an ultimate prize to whoever wins the match for him. Everything is on the line! Will
William Regal protect his position as GM or will
Corey Graves culminate his crusade of getting ride of the English man once and for all?

Match 3 -
VS
- Ever since
Shinsuke Nakamura got to NXT, the landscape of the brand changed. His natural charisma and strong style quickly gained the adoration of the US fans and they wanted to see more and more from the Japanese superstar. Despite his popularity, not everyone felt the same way towards
Nakamura, especially his fellow countryman
Akira Tozawa.
Tozawa accused
Nakamura of stealing his spotlight ever since he came to America and he feels that he's disrespecting him as a fellow Japanese.
Nakamura, in his own peculiar way, wanted to get the situation resolved and challenged
Tozawa to a match, which was won by The Strong Style master. Not pleased with the result and with the lack of attention that the audience was giving him,
Tozawa decided to get some help:
Lord Tensai. The big man joined his cause and called
Nakamura a show-off, a wannabe and that he was tarnishing the legacy that he built in Japan, even going further as to say he's "not the same man he once knew". But the issue didn't ended here.
Tensai and
Tozawa began assaulting and stalking Nakamura everywhere, to the point where
Shinsuke had to request a rematch for NXT TakeOver Dallas and this time in a Submission Match with no DQ! Will
"The Artist Known as Shinsuke Nakamura" be able to put a definite stop to
Tozawa's jealousy or will
Tensai prove himself to be decisive in granting
Tozawa the spotlight that he apparently deserves?
Highlights

Tensai begins distracting
Nakamura, leaving enough time for
Tozawa to take him down with a Fireman's carry slam!

Nakamura connects with a flying Kinshasa! Brutal!
- This time it's
Tensai who take off his clothes and viciously throws
Nakamura against the barricade!

Akira then locks in an innovated arm submission move and seems closer to make

Match 4 -
VS
- When
Hideo Itami finally overcome
Kurt Angle, his career truly took off.
"The Japanese Sensation" had a series of incredible and Match of The Years contenders with "
The Olympic Gold Medalist", winning the former NXT Intercontinental Championship (now renamed NXT TV Championship) in a memorable Steel Cage Match. If this wasn't enough,
Itami got the rub on live television from
Kurt Angle himself, putting the young star over and saying that he is the real deal before going out on hiatus.
Hideo became a star and constantly defended his NXT Television Championship, earning impressive victories over the likes of
Corbin,
Aries or
Shelton Benjamin. But soon, everything changed. The unannounced inclusion of
"The Glorious" Bobby Roode to the brand made some waves and soon, the veteran
Roode began calling everyone on NXT "useless trash", naming
Hideo as one of the reasons why NXT went from a hot brand to a trash brand. Wanting to change that,
Roode made the world know that he wants not only the NXT Championship but the NXT TV and NXT Tag Team Championships as well, even if he has to get them all by himself.
Roode wants to make NXT "Glorious" and he will start with the trash named
Hideo. Needless to say, the champ wasn't happy with any of this and quickly introduced himself to
Roode, hitting a GTS and leaving a "welcome" on his way out. The stage is set and the warriors are ready! Who's coming out the champion? Will
Hideo Itami shut
Roode's mouth from the get go and put him to sleep or will
"The Glorious One" take the first step in making the NXT brand "Glorious"?

-
Roode takes his time to gloat as the crowd boos the man out of the building!
- A stiff knee to the face keeps the champion on the ground. Smart strategy by
Roode.
- Again
Bobby takes some time to taunt the incredible Dallas crowd.
- Having enough of
Roode's constant show off,
"The Japanese Sensation" begins unloading a fury of stiff kicks!
- The NXT TV Champion has lost his mind and keeps kicking
Roode without mercy! We never saw this vicious side of
Hideo!
-
"The Glorious" Bobby Roode then finds some time by sending
Hideo against the turnbuckle.
- Amazingly,
Hideo keeps on going! He continues delivering a rain of kicks! Incredible!
- As
Roode struggles to get to his feet, the champion begins setting up his Shotgun Kick!
- Amazing counter!
Bobby Roode caughts
Itami with an earth-shaking Spinebuster! Close call!
- Running on pure adrenaline, the NXT TV Champion surprises everyone and goes for the GTS!
- But in another incredible sequence,
Roode reverses it into the Glorious Drop! This might be it!
-
Roode covers as the referee counts to 3! But wait!
Hideo's foot is under the rope! The official hasn't realized that! What a mistake!
Winner and NEW NXT Television Champion: Bobby Roode
- Hideo begins confronting the referee over the situation! He clearly had the foot under the ropes and he's definitely pissed and let's be fair, with good reason!
- As Hideo demands answers from the official, Roode nails the former NXT TV Champion with the title right in the head! What a despicable man!
- Adding insult to injury, the new NXT TV Champion stands stall over the fallen Japanese star as the crowd boos and chant "YOU DON'T DESERVE IT". Controversy all over the place in this one....
Main Event -
VS
- It's
Roddy vs The World. As soon as
Roderick Strong put his foot on NXT, he made an immediate impact. With a clear target, the former Ring of Honor World Champion went straight after the top dog, which at the time was
Sami Zayn, the NXT Champion. After a very even battle,
Strong managed to win the championship in his very first match on the brand and quickly established himself as
"Mr. NXT". But not everyone wanted to accept that. Former rival and friend,
Austin Aries, congratulated
Strong on his impressive victory but warned him that he wanted to be "the man" in NXT and that means, going through him.
Roderick Strong seemed receptive to the idea and both men seemed to be on the same page. Wrong. The NXT Champion quickly reminded everyone, and especially
Aries, that he has no friends and that it is, indeed,
Roddy vs The World. The situation became more personal than antecipated, with "
The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" reminding
Roddy of everything he has done for him, including on his personal life and that he can't believe he had to go this low. Completely unaffected by
Aries emotional speech,
Strong viciously attacked
Aries in front of a live NXT crowd and worse, in front of
Aries wife, Thea Trinidad. With no other way to solve it, a match was set for NXT TakeOver Dallas but not any match; a Ladder Match! The issues are deep and beyond personal! Who will leave Dallas as the NXT Champion? Will
Roderick Strong's vicious and cold side persevere or will
Austin Aries's desire for revenge prove too much for him to handle?
Highlights
- A shocking beginning to say the least! Both men quickly went for each other but
Strong, with a low blow, gets the upper hand and begins unloading with a chair shot! This is already vicious and it just began!
-
Strong begins placing the chair in the center of the ring and it seems he has evil intentions in mind.....
- A brutal backbreaker right into the chair!
Aries is clearly already in huge pain as the crowd seems surprised by this violent beginning! No time to breathe!
-
"The Messiah of the Backbreaker" seems focused on injuring
Aries for sure as he goes for a scary backbreaker on the apron!
- The ladder comes to play for the first time as
Strong begins setting up at ringside.
Aries still hasn't had any kind of offense.....
- This is getting serious!
Strong calls
Aries a "motherf**" as he powerbombs him right through the ladder! Someone needs to end this....
- What in the world is happening? The NXT Champion sets yet another ladder......

- About time!
Aries somehow shows some life and sends
Strong against a steel chair! Head first! Uff!
- He then offers back the low blow and delivers an incredible Brainbuster on the announcers table!!
- Disregarding pain and even common sense,
Aries placed
Strong on the ladder and in an amazing, incredible and heart-stopping moment, he connects with a 450º Splash from the top of the ladder, inside the ring through the outside ladder! Holy sh*!
- Finally realizing that this battle is for that title,
Aries begins crawling his way towards the gold!
- Again, somehow,
Strong re-enters the ring and manages to throw the ladder out and connect with a Death by Roderick!
- With both men clearly exhausted,
Roddy still had enough power to set a table and deliver a backbreaker through it! How are they doing this?
- As
Strong tried to slowly climb the ladder,
"The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" managed to pulls him down and connected with a powerful Super Kick! They are on their last legs for sure....
-
Aries continues to climb the ladder, in pain and with no more strength left... Still, he's seconds way from becoming the new NXT Champion!
- In a desperation move,
Roderick Strong enters the ring and simply pushes the ladder down!
- Oh My God!
Aries comes crashing down through several tables that were set up earlier! He's out! Completely out!
- Even
Strong looks shocked at what he just did but then begins climbing his way to "his" NXT Championship!
Winner and Still NXT Champion: Roderick Strong
- The EMTs come rushing to ringside to check on Austin Aries, who still hasn't moved as "Mr. NXT" Roderick Strong celebrates on top of the ladder to end the show! Thank you all for watching and goodnight!
