- Welcome everyone to another edition of SmackDown Live and tonight’s show couldn’t be more electrifying! It’s true! “The Great One” The Rock will be here, live, to address the recent events with Chris Jericho! It’s Rock’s great return to SmackDown and one that can not be missed! Moving to other subjects, out comes General Manager Shane McMahon, who has a lot on his plate ever since several superstars went a bit overboard with their most recent actions.
- Shane thanks everyone for watching SmackDown Live and he’s very happy with the reception the show is having, which means they are doing something right in so little time but that’s not why he’s out here right now. Shane shows a replay of what happened between United States Champion Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn last week, where their Tournament match never happened and their bad blood took them into the backstage area, leaving a path of chaos! McMahon goes on to say he admires people who show this kind of emotions but what happened was too much, even for his standards. He continues by saying Zayn is currently unable to compete due to a neck injury therefore he’s out of the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament but that’s not all. All of this happened because Kevin Owens can’t seem to keep his anger in check so that’s why he’s also officially OUT of the Tournament by disqualification and is suspended this week without pay. Shane says that he doesn’t like to do things this way but the show needs to become more stable and letting everyone doing anything they want is not how he operates. He likes giving opportunities but enough is enough. Shane-O also mentions Kane’s actions last week, assaulting a referee and a fellow superstar backstage after his match and that’s also going to be dealt with because SmackDown Live needs……
- As Shane is about to end his sentence, Mark Henry’s theme plays and the whole arena gets nervous with “The World’s Strongest Man” appearance. Henry says he heard Shane mention the word “opportunities”. He finds it funny because he hasn’t seen any opportunity coming his way so far. The only thing he got so far is complete and utter lack of respect from someone like Shane McMahon, someone that knows him so well and for so many years but apparently, Shane keeps forgetting who he truly is.
- Mark Henry reminds Shane McMahon what he said last week and that he wasn’t joking around when he said The Hall of Pain would be back in business if things didn’t change. He then finishes it with “this is all on you, kid"....
- In a shocking turn of events, Mark Henry attacks Shane McMahon and drops him flat with a World Strongest Slam!!
- With the audience speechless, Henry continues the brutal assault and goes on to hit a Splash on the fallen General Manager!
- Apparently not over, Henry grabs a chair on the outside and starts having some disturbing thoughts as he places the chair on Shane's leg with the referee desperatly trying to talk some sense into the berserk superstar!
- In a disgusting move, Henry goes for a top rope splash right on the chair and Shane's leg, with the SmackDown Live General Manager screaming in agony! He's leg is probably broken!
- With the crowd completely numb after what they just witnessed, "The World Strongest Man" leaves the ring and screams "WELCOME TO THE HALL OF PAIN SHANE!" while the officials try to assist Shane-O in the ring..... Mark Henry just commited career suicide.....
- Back to the announcers table and we see Ranallo and Phillips still completely in shock with the events that just transpired. Ranallo goes on to say that what we just witnessed was a savage and disgusting assault on our own General Manager and there will be no other option than to fire Henry. He also mentions how Shane McMahon’s leg might be seriously injured to the point of being broken, which brings the question about the future of SmackDown Live…. We’ll keep everyone updated on Shane McMahon’s condition during the broadcast but right now it’s time to keep the show going with some tag team action! The SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament continues with The American Alpha facing the former NXT Tag Team Champions, The Ascension! NEXT!
Match 1 – VS
Highlights
- The former NXT Tag Team Champions dominanted the early stages of the match, with Konnor showing his power with a strong Side Slam on Gable.
- A powerful double team sends Gable viciously against the turnbuckle!
- Viktor keeps the control going and hits a strong backbreaker.
- With no time to lose, Viktor nails a snap suplex! Incredible display by The Ascension so far!
- A countered Big Boot finally gives Chad Gable a figthing chance!
- Konnor quickly tags in but Gable again avoids the attack and counters with a beautiful Headscissors Takedown!
- Jason Jordan finally gets tagged in and cleans house, sending Viktor flying with an incredible Belly to Belly suplex!
- Jordan then hits a strong spear on Viktor and picks the big man Konnor for another Belly to Belly! He's on fire!
- Filled with momentum, American Alpha then picks up Viktor for a quick Grand Amplitude, earning the victory! Fantastic win!
Winners: American Alpha
- Jason Jordan and Chad Gable move to the next round with a convincing victory over The Ascension and it seems clear they have the fans support backing them up in this quest!
- We
go backstage where Renee Young is with AJ Styles. Renee asks Styles what are
his thoughts about the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament and his time
in WWE so far. “The Phenomenal One” says everything has been close to perfect,
with everyone welcoming him with open arms, to having one hell of a match with
John Cena, the face of WWE himself. Now, it’s time for him to become the face
of SmackDown Live and the only way he can do that is by winning the World
Heavyweight Championship, a title held by some of his favorite superstars in
the past and he wants to carry on that legacy himself and show the whole world
that AJ Styles is truly, phenomenal.
- As AJ gets ready to leave, he comes across
The Balor Club. Finn says it’s great to see AJ in the WWE and it’s impressive
what he has done in so little time in the company but for some reason,
something is missing. Anderson steps in and says he knows what AJ is missing.
Friends. Brothers. The same ones that conquered Japan and are now ready to
counter WWE. Gallows says it seems fate has brought them all together again
and they will always have each other’s backs.
- AJ doesn’t look convinced
while Balor tells “The Phenomenal One” that there’s always a place for a
brother in The Balor Club…. Unless he’s no longer a brother. If so, then that’s
a problem. Anderson again interrupts and they all Too Sweet as AJ Styles looks
confused, not knowing if that was a welcome or a warning...
- We
return to the announcers table where Ranallo and Phillips hype the next
SmackDown Live PPV, Backlash! Ranallo informs that the finals of both the World
Heavyweight Championship and SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships Tournaments
will be decided at the PPV, while no other matches have been announced so far.
Phillips talks about the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament and mentions
how he considers Finn Balor one of the favorites to win it, stating that the “Real
Rock 'n' Rolla" is a former 2-time NXT Champion and has his brothers from
The Club to back him up at every turn, which isn’t totally fair but it’s a
reality. Ranallo agrees but says that AJ Styles is his pick, while guys like
Rusev or Ambrose can’t be ignored either. Speaking of which, the tournament
continues with "The Prince of Queens" Curt Hawkins facing “The
Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose, NEXT!
Match
2 – VS
Highlights
- "The Lunatic Fringe" started off with a strong running neckbreaker, taking Hawkins off guard.
- After regaining his composure, Hawkins countered Ambrose and delivered a Russian Leg Sweep, followed by a chin lock, slowing down the pace.
- Hawkins then sent Ambrose face first on the turnbuckle!
- And quickly followed with a Belly to Back Suplex! "The Prince of Queens" is doing some work!
- Always unpredictable, Dean Ambrose unleashes a fury of punches!
- With a sneaky rake to the eyes, Hawkins tried to end the bout by going for a top rope move!
- Unfortunately for him, "The Lunatic Fringe" reacted first and delivered a brutal Dirty Deeds, ending Hawkins efforts and securing a position for the next round!
Winner: Dean Ambrose
- Suddenly, a big explosion happens as we hear Kane's theme song!
- Out of nowhere, "The Big Red Machine" appears behind Dean Ambrose! He then hits a huge Chokeslam from Hell to the confused Ambrose!
- Kane sends Ambrose to the outside and begins destroying the announcers table! What the hell is happening on SmackDown Live tonight??
- "The Devil's Favorite Demon" then delivers another brutal Chokeslam right on the table!!
- Kane then looks completely out of his mind and begins laughing. The show has officially lost all type of control......
- Back
at the broadcast, Ranallo and Phillips comment about Kane’s actions just now,
mentioning how “The Big Red Machine” seems to be losing his mind and apparently
ignoring Shane McMahon’s appeal for order, viciously attacking Ambrose for
whatever reason. Phillips thinks Kane’s defeat on the tournament flipped a
switch inside his demented head and now he doesn’t seem to care about any
consequences, even more now when our General Manager is out of action. Ranallo
picks up the line and informs the audience that Shane McMahon is at the Hospital
and it seems his leg is not broken but the damage has been significant so only
the doctors will know what lies in Shane’s future. Without the SmackDown Live
General Manager to take charge, the show continues to fall into a spiral of
chaos and one must wonder if there’s anything anyone can do to put a stop to
it. Moving on, Ranallo speaks about one of the most expected Tournament matches
in Daniel Bryan vs The Brian Kendrick. He speaks about their longtime
friendship and both men want to get a second chance after so many roadblocks
over their careers and everything will be on the line, perhaps even their
relationship. Phillips then says it’s been the match he’s more eager to see and
notes how we won’t have to wait long since next week, “The Yes Man” and “The
Man With a Plan” will face off right here, on SmackDown Live! But right now,
it’s time for our second SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship Tournament match
of the evening! The Prime Time Players face an old foe in The Wyatt Family!
NEXT!
Match 3 – VS
Highlights
- With a long story between the two teams, it's The Wyatt Family who begins the onslaught!
- After a vicious Super Kick from Harper, they double team Titus on the corner with some massive strikes!
- With "The Monster Amoung Men" in the ring, Titus falls victim of a suplex and a devastating clothesline on the corner!
- With Harper as the legal man again, Titus managed to surprise "The Backwoods Brawler" with a powerslam!
- As Titus tries to tag in Darren for the first time, the former WWE Tag Team Champion surprises everyone by refusing and walking out on his own partner while apologizing! The fear got the best of him!
- The events then allowed Luke Harper to almost take Titus head off with a vicious Discus Clothesline!
- With Braun Strowman now in the ring, the huge monster picks the fallen O'Neil and applies the Lifting Arm Triangle Choke until there's no more life in his opponent! The Wyatt Family moves on!
Winners: The Wyatt Family
- With the victory already secured, the monstrous duo continued punishing The Prime Time Player member, assaulting him without mercy!
- After the lights go out, Bray Wyatt appears before his minions and surprisingly orders them to stand down, telling them that it's enough.
- After finally calming down his brothers, they pose but not without Harper & Strowman looking displeased with what just happened.
- We
return to SmackDown Live, with Ranallo showing a replay of what just happened
with Darren Young and The Wyatt Family! Phillips reminds everyone of past
issues that Young had with the monstrous Family, which went as far as
kidnapping him for months and that must have played a part in this situation.
Ranallo agrees and notes how nervous Darren was but that doesn’t excuse his
actions of leaving his partner Titus all by himself against two scary
individuals in Braun Strowman and Luke Harper. The Voice of SmackDown Live then
speaks about what happened next, with Bray Wyatt appearing and stopping their
minions assault on a defenseless Titus, something that may have surprised a lot
of people, including them. Phillips confirms that he was very surprised with it
but also noticed how Strowman and Harper weren’t very happy with it. In any
case, their allegiance to Wyatt is what matters and if the patriarch of the
Family speaks, they listen. Moving on, Mauro Ranallo hypes next week’s Main
Event of SmackDown Live, as “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt will be in action
against "The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla" Chris Jericho in a World
Heavyweight Championship Tournament Match! A hell of a match for sure! We’ll be
right back after a commercial break.
- Backstage
we see Tyson Kidd relaxing until he meets Ryback on the way. “The Big
Guy” begins bullying Tyson, saying that now with no General Manager around, he
can start his job of cleaning this damn show of useless, annoying little
midgets like him.
- Tyson Kidd gets in his face and says he isn’t afraid of him
and if he thinks he can corner him, he’s very mistaken.
- Both men almost trade
blows until Dustin Rhodes, aka Goldust, shows up and gets in the middle,
telling Ryback that if he wants trouble, he’s right here in front of him.
- Ryback says “be careful what you wish for” before leaving, with Dustin looking on....
Match 4 – VS
Highlights
- "The Man Beast" started off nicely with a strong side powerslam.
- Rhyno then goes for an Saito Suplex while "The Prince" looks stunned!
- With sheer power, Rhyno places Balor on the top rope and then sends him crashing hard!
- Almost like a desperation move, Finn managed to hit the Sling Blade and gain some time while his Balor Club teammates try to motivate him outside.
- He then waits for Rhyno to get up and delivers a Sunset Flip Powerbomb! 2 Count!
- Showing his vicious side, "The Real Rock "n" Rolla" nails a brutal Brainbuster!
- Time for some gloating by "The Real Shooter".
- But the ECW Original wouldn't take any of it and went on a rampage, with several hard head shots on the post!
- Using the momentum, Rhyno plants Balor with a Belly to Back Suplex and begins firing up!
- As Gallows & Anderson scream in desperation, trying to warn their leader, "The Man Beast" goes for the Gore!!
- In the exact right time, Balor moves out of the way, with Rhyno accidently taking the referee down!
- Taking the opportunity, Anderson sends a steel chair to the ring, which Balor quickly grabs!
- Brutal chair shot right in the head!
- Taking advantage of the damage done by the chair shot, Finn Balor delivers his signature Shotgun Dropkick as the crowd begins booing.
- The leader of The Balor Club smirks at the crowd before going on the air and deliver the Coup de Grace for the 3 count!
Winner: Finn Balor
- The villainous Balor continues his quest to become the World Heavyweight Champion with a mighty help from his "brothers" Anderson & Gallows.... Call it whatever you want but those men are showing to be extremely resourceful and united!
- We
return to SmackDown Live and with some breaking news! After the events that happened
between General Manager Shane McMahon and Mark Henry, it’s now confirmed that
next week an Interim GM will be announced! It’s also confirmed that the new GM
will directly address Mark Henry about the brutal assault and there will be
consequences!
- And here it is! The moment everyone has been waiting for! The
crowd goes nuts as Rock’s theme song plays and out he comes for a huge ovation!
“The Great One” soaks in every single chant from the crowd before even
beginning speaking.
- As usual, Rock starts with his famous “Finally…..”
catchphrase, stating how good it is to be back on SmackDown. The Rock goes on a
memory lane trip and remembers great times he had in the show, from Rock Bottom
The Undertaker on a announcers table, to putting an end to Vince McMahon’s
“Kiss my Ass Club” and showing his old face into Rikishi’s behind and
obviously, teaming up with one Chris Jericho. The crowd begins to boo. The Rock
continues and says everyone knows that it was one of his favorites rivalries
back in the day and it was so much fun but, as everything in life, times keeps
running and people change. “The People’s Champion” says he changed a lot, got
new gigs and he’s very happy with his life but one thing that never changed is
his love for wrestling and for the WWE. He knows everyone would love to see
more of him but they also understand why that has been pretty much impossible,
despite his best efforts. He carries on and says that if it was up to him, he
would make everything work out, just like he did at SummerSlam. It was a
pleasure facing on of the best new superstars around in Bray Wyatt and how he
felt they were doing something magical. And it was, until Chris Jericho put his
nose where it didn't belong. The Rock states how apparently, Jericho hasn’t
changed with times and after 16 years, he still can’t let the jealously go. He
can’t accept “The Great One’s” success and that makes him one hell of a
jabroni. Rocky keeps going and mentions how he said that, if it was up to him,
he would make this all thing work. Well, newsflash. It is up to him. The Rock
then states that he has taken some liberties and he is here to inform that he’s
officially part of the SmackDown Live roster, which brings a huge ovation from
the crowd! “The Braham Bull” says his last run was so much fun that he felt it
was the right time for another one but warns everyone that despite this, he
can’t be here every single week as he would like since he has other commitments
to honor but expect to see a hell of a lot more from.....
- As
Rock is about to finish, Chris Jericho song plays and out he comes walking down the
ramp. Jericho quickly grabs a microphone and says Rock hasn’t changed one bit
either. He’s still the same damn hypocrite, the same glory hunter and the same
pathological liar he has always been.
- Keeping up the rant, Jericho says
everyone in this arena ate every single word he just said but what they don’t
realize is that this isn’t the first time The Rock promises something to the
fans. And then what happens? Satellite promos and not showing up unless he
seems fitting. And now? Now he comes back, like a hero that he so much loves to
be in his weak action movies, and states that he’s here and he made it work for
the people. Newsflash, he’s been doing that for years! Chris Jericho continues
and states that when he’s back, he’s back for real and does everything. TV,
Live shows, tours. You name it. He is here with everything he’s got and now he
has to hear this piece of crap from Rock’s mouth and accept it like it’s a
normal thing. No! He won’t accept it and that’s exactly why he hit that damn
chain in his head at SummerSlam! Jericho angrily continues by saying this isn’t
jealously as Rock is trying to pass, this is about justice! Years and years of
constantly doing things behind curtains just to get a hero’s welcome every
single time but not anymore! This time, he will expose The Rock and it will
start by putting The Rock in The List!!
- The Rock asks if Jericho is done
because he honestly wasn’t listening to half the things he said, as the crowd
pops. The Rock did hear him calling out on the fact that he isn’t here every
single week and it’s true. He isn’t but that’s because he did something with
his life. And no, having an unknown rock band doesn’t count. Jericho gets upset
but Rock continues and says if he wants some action, he’s right here, ready to
roll his List, shine it up real nice and stick it straight up his candy ass!
- Jericho has enough and cheap shots “The Great One” with the mic!
- But The Rock quickly fights back! Both men exchange hard strikes, one after the other!
- Rock Buttom! The Rock hits the Rock Buttom on Jericho for another massive pop from the audience!!
- "The People's Champion" theme plays as he does he usual pose on the turnbuckle! What a return! The Rock is here for the stay and he will definitly electrify Tuesday nights! Thank you for watching and see you next week!
